Scorpion Bar Review

What do you look for in a bar?  How about entertainment that is so mesmerizing that it almost puts you in a trance?  Or maybe delectable drinks made with some of the finest tequila around?  Or how about music that is so famous yet hardly ever heard in a club atmosphere?  If these all interest you then you MUST come to the Scorpion Bar.  The Scorpion Bar, the newest craze to hit Foxwoods Casino, opened on Memorial Day Weekend.  Its Criss Angel/Marilyn Manson gothic chic meets the tumbleweeds of a Texas dude ranch.  My two friends, Shayna and Breanna, recently accompanied me when I decided to check it out.  We arrived at the bar around 11:15pm.  To the left there were tables filled with people enjoying delicious Mexican cuisine and to the right there was the bar and a dance floor.  Around the perimeter of the dance floor were VIP tables and to the extreme right were an array of cozy booths and leather couches.  We claimed a giant leather couch complete with decorative pillows and a low wooden table to rest our drinks.  The waitress was so friendly giving us plenty of time to browse the extensive drink menu.  This was the most difficult part of the night, what to get to drink!  The Scorpion bar features everything from beer to margaritas.  The C-Note is the “Mack Daddy of Tequila, Patron Gran Burdeos, mixed with Patron Citronge and Scorpion Bar’s house made Margarita Mix.” It’s an “Especial Margarita” and also $100.  We decided to start off with something a little cheaper, The ‘Scorpion Bar’ Bowl.  For $36 you can get a 60oz drink that serves four people and there’s three to choose from:  The Scorpion, the Beckett Bowl (a portion of the proceeds go to the Josh Beckett Foundation), or the Sangria La Fiesta.  We chose to share the latter of the three, and it was amazing!  On a quick side note, if you decide to share one of these bowls and are wearing a low cut dress (as I did) you may want to think twice about sitting at the couch with the low coffee table.  It is very difficult to lift up the giant glass so I was forced to multi-task: drink and try to cover my chest as to not give the entire bar a show!  Next to our leather couch was a row of bar stools and above that was an elevated catwalk platform.  All of a sudden, these scantily clad women jumped up onto the platform and began dancing.  I’ve been to clubs before with go-go dancers but these girls were different.   It was as if the whole club was being hypnotized, out eyes absolutely glued to them like magnets on a refrigerator.  All of the girls were really upbeat and happy, but there were definitely a few who stood out.  I have to give props to this one girl, the only blonde, who absolutely incredible.  She was the female version of Chris Brown, Usher, and Justin Timberlake combined!  The way she slid over the floor so effortlessly I was convinced her feet were made of butter!  Another extremely positive feature of this bar was the incredible music.  I don’t know about you but I am so sick of the same hip-hop, rap, techno noise that plays at 90% of the clubs around.  The Scorpion Bar is a rock bar so they take the hottest rock and alternative music and remix them with club and dance beats.  Being a rock/alternative fan, I loved it so much I wanted to ask the DJ to burn me a copy of the music he mixed!  There was everything from Eddie Money and Journey to Kings of Leon and Greenday!  Next time you’re in the mood for some great service, sexy entertainment, extraordinary drinks, and mind-blowing music check out the Scorpion Bar!
